Jackson Potter


Guitarist and composer Jackson Potter is a passionate musician who has achieved a significant amount of success in the short time that he has been on the music scene. Raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Potter began playing professionally around the twin cities at age 16. In high school, he was a member of the Roseville Area Jazz Ensemble and Combo where he won numerous individual and group awards at Midwestern Jazz Festivals. From 2016-2020, he completed a Bachelor of Music degree at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami in jazz guitar under the direction of John Hart. During this time, he gigged extensively with the Jackson Potter Trio and placed 2nd in the 2019 Wilson Center International Guitar Competition. In addition to leading his own group, Potter performed with GRAMMY award-winners Dafnis Prieto and Gonzalo Rubalcaba, GRAMMY Nominee John Fedchock, as well as with Chuck Bergeron and Aldo Salvent. Jackson is currently studying with guitar virtuoso, Mike Moreno at the Manhattan School of Music on a presidential scholarship. His debut album, Restless, that showcases both his guitar playing and composing talents, will be released on October 8, 2021, on Wise Cat Records.

Potter's debut album, Restless, features six of his original compositions; “Restless,” “Hindsight is 2020,” “Amalfi,” “Mulberry Tree,” “Sophia’s Waltz,” and “Bird Flu,” as well as his versions of the beloved jazz standards, “Peace” and “Falling Grace.” The music spans a wide range of emotions and styles ranging from energetic and bluesy for the aptly named tune, “Restless,” to sentimental and traditional for “Sophia’s Waltz,” written in dedication to Potter’s girlfriend. The album is a musical culmination of Potter’s eclectic background as a musician and composer.
